Hi, as promised here are my notes for the cool things that you can do in Windows 7 Beta
FULL SCREEN, yeah you know how to do full screen right?, but there is another way just drag the window that you want to maximize trough your top of the screen and voila!, very nice...
Move the windows without resize!, remember those days when you want to put one document at the left and a pdf at the right so you need to resize the windows until they look nice in the screen?... well now is much much much much easier, just press "WINDOWS KEY" + LEFT or "WINDOWS KEY" + RIGHT and the actual window will 'move' to the left or right and if you want that the window just recover their actual size press again the same key but at contrary if was left now right... SO if you work with 2 monitors now is more easy to move it in the right place... you need to try!!!
Desktop - Show Desktop, this is very basic however is also very cool if you click the rectangle that is in the right side (after the clock/date), is the same as "Show Desktop", however if you just pass the mouse over it, will show the desktop as well without minimize the windows... very interesting.
DHCP Hint!, this is a feature just in Windows 7 that you will note if you use wireless, what happen (if you have XP, Vista) is after you put to sleep your machine and restart later you will notice that you loose all your network connections for few seconds, then try to reconnect and after that (more seconds later in some cases a minute) you have again your wireless connection. Well now in Windows 7 and with the DHCP hint you will connect almost 'instanly' to your wireless again!, that is because what is doing internally is 'memorize' the last connection used so when the machine comes back from sleep, will query the last DHCP 'in memory', that is why you are back again in a second!
Shake it!, that is again a cool thing, if you have a lot of windows in the background and you just want to have your actual window, then just shake it!, and all the other ones that are behind will minimize...
Pinning, is very easy to pin and unpin, just move the "icon" and you are done! put whatever you want in your new 'bar'
Home Group!, yeah this is a new concept, is not a domain, is not a Workgroup, is a HOME GROUP!, is like a mini domain. You need to be in a Workgroup to go to the Home Group, You can't if you are in a Domain.
Search improved!, yeah, now is very intuitive, you can even create external searches!!, for example search a video from You Tube!!.. very very very cool!!
Libraries, of course one library is not enough, so now you can have 2,3 or more libraries from all your hard disks, libraries includes: Photos, Documents, etc. You know that you are storing photos from all your drives even external ones, so now you can see from the libraries where are those, and thanks with the improved search you will exactly know where are those even if the external drives are unatached!
Credential Manager, one place to manage all your credentials
New UAC, yeah a very good UI we have so we can control better the User Access Control features.
And try these cool things as well: "WINDOWS KEY" + Home, "WINDOWS KEY" + "+" or "WINDOWS KEY + "-", you can imagine? a hint?..zoom!.. try try try try...!
And there is more but not enough time: Action Center - redesigned for pop-ups, Backup to Network, IE8 (private browsing, accelerator, etc).... I really encourage you to check the springboard series (www.microsoft.com/springboard) to know more and always you will found interesting tips as well...
